Brother Shawn Berry

Brother Shawn Berry

Around the end of September 2002 the Lord began to give me a burden for Bowling Green, Kentucky while I was pastoring the Julien Baptist Church in Gracey, Kentucky. It began when someone sent me an e-mail asking me if I knew of a sound church in Bowling Green. I had driven past Bowling Green on the interstate before while traveling but I didn’t know anything about Bowling Green. I soon contacted some of my fellow preacher brethren to ask if they knew of a sound church in Bowling Green. They all replied that to their knowledge there was not a sound, independent, sovereign grace, missionary Baptist church in Bowling Green. They told me of a mission that started there and later organized into a church in the 80’s but it had disbanded several years ago. I soon found out that Bowling Green had a population of around fifty thousand people and it was continually growing. The Lord began to give me a great burden for Bowling Green and I called Elder Garner Smith the pastor of the Faith Baptist Church of Clarksville, Tennessee to ask him to pray with me that the Lord would send someone to Bowling Green to start a mission work. I soon found myself with a great burden to go to Bowling Green. As I made this burden known the Faith Baptist Church of Clarksville, Tennessee was given a burden to send me out under their God given authority to start a mission work. On October 6th of 2002 the Faith Baptist Church voted to send me out.

I resigned as the pastor of the Julien Baptist Church, packed up my family and moved to Bowling Green. We soon found out that Bowling Green has a very diverse population. For instance they have about five thousand Bosnians in Bowling Green. They have a church on almost every street corner. They have a over one hundred Southern Baptist Churches in Warren county as well as, United Baptist, Free will Baptist and many others. There was not an Independent, Sovereign Grace, Missionary Baptist Church to be found any where. The Lord soon blessed us with a building to meet and began to open up several doors of opportunity for us. God has blessed us with a cable television broadcast that airs twice a week as well as the opportunity to advertise and publish articles in a local paper from time to time. We are growing slowly but surely in number as the good Lord adds unto us. We are currently located at 5236 Louisville Road in Bowling Green. Anyone who has questions for us can call us at 270-746-9876, e-mail us at srb1@scrtc.com or write us at P.O. Box 1349 Bowling Green, KY 42102.

By His Grace,
